Youth Minister Job Description:
PURPOSE
To inspire, encourage, educate and promote the youth at Jersey Village while working in tandem with parents and church leadership. This includes creating an atmosphere where kids receive encouragement for their individual walks with Christ while at the same time fostering a spirit of togetherness, love and mutual support within the Youth Group. It is the goal of the Jersey Village Youth Ministry to prepare young people for a life of service in the Kingdom of God; arming them with spiritual strength and a servant heart that will be an aid in their lifelong devotion to God.

The Youth Minister is expected to model this servant heart in his words and deeds; to promote frequent interaction within the group both inside and outside of the church building; to raise the bar of expectations for our young people that they may reach new heights in their faith and service.

The Youth Minister will report directly the elders of the church of Christ in Jersey Village and work with the Pulpit Minister, Associate Minister and the deacon over the youth program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the Youth Minister will include the following:

GENERAL
• Faithfully attend all Bible classes, worship services and other events of church setting an example for the youth as well as the entire congregation.
• Participate in worship services, including song leading and pulpit preaching, as requested.
• Seek continued development through conferences, continuing education and other growth opportunities.
• Assist in the day-to-day activities, operations and requirements in the church office.
• Visit members as needed who are sick or require assistance.
• Assist with church social media and online video ministry.
YOUTH MINISTRY
• Provide oversight of the entire junior and senior high youth program; including planning, communications, teaching, training and counseling our youth.
• Assure youth group maintains a balanced program of spiritual, physical, and social growth. This would include preparing meaningful, Scripture based classes that offer application pertinent to the lives of our teens; frequent and regular outside devotions in member’s homes and elsewhere; frequent and regular service opportunities for our kids to help others and frequent and regular social opportunities for our kids to grow closer to one another and promote a family atmosphere.
• Be acquainted and involved with the personal lives of all kids in the youth group. This would include home visits, attending school events and frequent social and spiritual activities. This also includes being aware of current youth development and culture.
• Foster open communication with parents primarily through meetings, home visits, e-mail, general parent meetings or by other means of communication. Parents should have plenty of notice through various media for activities, classes, camps, devotionals, etc.
• Assure every youth activity focuses entirely on the authority found within God’s Word.
• Encourage and foster an outreach philosophy within the group. Every one of our youth activities should be organized and executed in such a way that our kids want to invite their non churched friends to our activities and classes.
• Assure training and regular involvement of youth in church ministry. Develop training programs for our young men to better participate in the worship service using men in our congregation versed in such activities as song leading, sermon and devotion preparation, Bible class teaching, Scripture reading, public prayer, greeting and one on one Bible study. Likewise, develop programs that utilize our mature women in teaching our young girls in all aspects of being a Christian woman; understanding and developing the nurturing, loving and encouraging quality that God blessed them with.
• Promote, plan and execute regular youth led worship services.
• Maintain care of facilities and vehicles used by youth programs.
• Maintain church social media including website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
• Enlist parents and other qualified adults to be regularly involved with youth; teaching Bible class, hosting devotions, chaperoning events, mentoring, etc.
• Develop and execute summer activities that provide spiritual and social growth while limiting exposure to inappropriate situations as have been experienced at previous camps and activities.
• Provide information and encourage attendance at summer camps. In addition, obtain information regarding camp philosophy, curriculum and speakers and make this available to the elders, youth deacon and parents.
• Utilize resources available in the brotherhood such as the Aggies for Christ program to inspire our youth and also so that our kids can see that they are a part of something larger than our own youth group.
• Look for opportunities to involve families as part of youth activities. Some of these may be parent/child Bible classes, service projects, prayer meetings, LTC, etc.
• Look at opportunities to get younger kids involved in the youth program. Reinstitute the Village Kids program that would let our Sr. High kids mentor our elementary aged children while at the same time provide opportunities for the younger children to begin getting involved in the larger youth program of the church.
• Organize and provide oversight for LTC and VBS.
ACCOUNTABILITY
• Attend periodic elder/ministry meetings
• Attend regular meeting with deacon and/or elders for prayer and planning.
• Review youth program and job performance with youth elder and deacon quarterly.
• Regularly meet with church staff and report to pulpit minister as office administrator.

Pulpit minister position

Montrose Church of Christ is a small, loving congregation located on the beautiful Western Slope of Colorado. We are seeking a faithful and motivated Preaching Minister who is passionate about sharing the Word of God. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who works well under the oversight of the men and future Elders of the congregation.
