Position Summary
The Aledo church of Christ seeks a spiritually mature, evangelistically minded, doctrinally sound preacher of the gospel who will work under a New Testament-qualified eldership to strengthen the congregation through expository, textual, and topical preaching; personal ministry; teaching; outreach; and close collaboration with church leadership.
The ideal candidate demonstrates deep commitment to biblical authority, personal holiness, servant leadership, and the ability to minister compassionately to advance the kingdom of God.

Core Responsibilities
1. Preaching & Teaching
• Deliver scripturally sound, well-prepared sermons for Sunday AM/PM assemblies and teach weekly Bible classes; including Wednesday evening classes (alternating with other teachers.)
• Preach the whole counsel of God with clarity, conviction, and balance—avoiding denominational/ecumenical ambiguity and teaching firmly from Scripture (2 Tim. 4:1–5).
• Present the Truth with love and sincerity.
2. Member Engagement
• Maintain a consistent schedule of outreach to members—visiting homes, hospitals, shut-ins, and families in need; follow-up with visitors and evangelistic inquires.
• Respond sensitively to congregational joys, tragedies, and spiritual challenges, shaping lessons when appropriate to strengthen the flock.
• Assist in counseling members within safe, ethical boundaries, referring cases to professionals when needed.
3. Evangelism & Community Outreach
• Lead and participate in personal evangelism efforts, Bible studies, and community contacts.
• Support outreach initiatives targeting younger generations, digitally-connected audiences, and local families.
• Teach prospects the gospel plan of salvation, including hearing, believing, repenting, confessing Christ, and baptism by immersion for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38; Rom. 6:3–5).
4. Collaboration with Eldership & Ministry/Admin Staff
• Work under the authority of the elders, supporting their shepherding work and communicating openly, respectfully, and consistently.
• Participate in ministry planning, evaluation processes, and regular coordination meetings.
• Assist deacons and ministry leaders as needed and help develop volunteers.
• Maintain orderly reporting habits, tracking activities, progress, and spiritual engagement.
5. Doctrinal Integrity & Soundness
The minister is expected to:
• Affirm the inspiration, inerrancy, and authority of Scripture.
• Teach and model New Testament worship without instrumental music.
• Uphold the autonomy of the local congregation.
• Denounce ecumenism while upholding the attributes of the Bride of Christ.
• Teach clearly on baptism, the Lord’s Supper, morality, church discipline, and Christian living.
• Maintain positions consistent with the Word of Truth (sound in faith) including a proper defense of the work of the Holy Spirit, cessation of miracles, eschatology (opposing pre-millennialism), God’s plan for gender roles, marriage/divorce/remarriage (Matt. 19:9), and Christian ethics (blameless in practice)—including alcohol and other personal conduct.
• Demonstrate the ability to articulate doctrine with Scripture and avoid speculative teaching that undermines biblical clarity become a cause of stumbling of the weak.
6. Administrative & Practical Duties
• Maintain a weekly work schedule consistent with full-time ministry, including study, visitation, sermon prep, and office hours.
• Participate in congregational activities, fellowships, community service, youth and senior events as needed.
• Assist in planning special events, hosting and cooperating with other faithful congregations, gospel meetings, seminars, or workshops.
• Engage in continuing education and ministerial development.
