This is a shared co-minister position. Water Mill does not intend to have a one-person dedicated pulpit role, but a shared ministry position that uses the strengths of the minister to effectively serve the congregation and community. Preaching will be a part of the role, but not the sole responsibility.
Ministry Team Vision
– Guided by the shepherds, be a leader in fostering a culture of a welcoming environment, a serving congregation, and a growing faith, love, and hope. Create a plan that guides the direction of the Sunday worship and fellowship.
– Develop and deliver scripturally based sermons during worship services, as well as on special occasions and events.
– Plan and lead worship services, collaborating with the deacon of worship, ensuring that services are meaningful and spiritually enriching. Preaching and teaching on specific topics related to the vision for the congregation or specific needs of our congregation. Actual Sunday pulpit responsibility may vary between 50-75%.
– Provide immediate follow-up for guests via phone call or personal visit (in-person visits should be accompanied) to determine spiritual and/or physical needs.
– Visit sick, shut-in, and absent members providing encouragement and comfort.
– Be a resource for ministerial counseling those in need (or providing appropriate resources) and offering support during times of crisis.
– Working with the deacon of bridging events, engage and build relationships within the local community finding ways that the congregation at Watermill can address and serve the needs of the community.
– Working with the eldership, develop ways to foster opportunities of spiritual growth through the development of group ministries, Bible studies, and other educational programs.
– Working with elders, deacons, and staff, establish and execute a vision and strategic plan to equip the members of Water Mill for the spiritual opportunities needed.
– Attend minister and staff coordination meetings to ensure all involved in the daily function of the church have a clear direction, are not duplicating efforts, and are covering the needs of the congregation.
– Mentor and support church staff and volunteers, fostering a positive, collaborative work environment with robust spiritual leadership development.
– With the deacon of education, create a curriculum and method of learning for all ages considering the opportunities for older men and women to informally teach the younger generations.
– Teach a Sunday morning and/or Wednesday evening bible class, rotating among the various ages.
