Morristown (TN) Church of Christ seeks an additional minister to work alongside us as we continue our current spiritual trajectory. This new position of co-minister has been borne out of the ongoing spiritual and numerical growth of our church family. Since 2019, our Sunday Bible classes have increased by 58%, and our worship assemblies have grown by 22%. While we have experienced growth among all ages and walks of life, much of our growth has taken place among young families with children.
We are overseen by three shepherds and served by sixteen deacons. We have an active youth ministry with approximately fifty-five children from birth to high school and are blessed with a growing group of young adults. We believe that grace and truth can co-exist in the context of doing “church,” and we strive to promote an atmosphere of love, joy, and peace. Our church family is composed of both recent converts and those who have been “raised in the church.” We view our spiritual diversity as a strength that allows us to continue to reach both those who have no church background and those who walked away from the church in the past.
Such spiritual and numerical growth has positioned us to look for an additional minister. We seek someone who above all else, loves the Lord, loves people, and loves bringing people to the Lord. While a general job description is available upon request, it is more important for us to find the right person and allow that person’s gifts and talents to influence his job description. The job description includes regular teaching of Bible classes, ministering to the general needs of our church family, and occasional preaching. The position requires one who desires to work collaboratively with the preaching minister, other staff members, elders, and the entire church family.
Morristown is a community of nearly 33,000 souls, and Hamblen County has a population approaching 68,000. We are the only Church of Christ in Hamblen County, but seven counties are represented among our church family. Recent growth in our area is expected to continue for the foreseeable future. Situated within an hour’s drive of Knoxville, the Tri-Cities, and the Smoky Mountains, Morristown’s location offers both the amenities of city life and the beauty of Appalachia. Being a part of the Lakeway area, Morristown also boasts two beautiful state parks that each adjoin Cherokee Lake. Douglas Lake can also be accessed in under thirty minutes.
To apply for the position, please submit a resume with references and a 1-2 page summary of your philosophy/approach to ministry. Submissions can be sent to morristownministersearch@gmail.com .
