Full-Time Minister who will teach and preach the word of God. (1 Peter 4:11)
The Westside church of Christ, located in Akron, Ohio, is in search of a full-time minister who will teach and preach the word of God. (I Peter 4:11)
Core responsibilities include:
· Preaching & teaching – Delivering Biblically sound and engaging sermons and lessons during worship services and Bible classes. (Sunday morning Bible class/sermon, Wed. eve. Bible class. May add Sunday evening sermon in the future.)
· Providing spiritual guidance, counseling, and support to church members. This may involve visiting the sick and elderly and providing support during times of difficulty.
· Evangelism – Working with the elders to establish an evangelism model used to reach out to the community.
Specific examples of tasks:
· Preparing and delivering sermons that are applicable and inspiring. (2 Tim. 4:2,5)
· Teaching Bible classes that edify, motivate, and promote spiritual growth.
· At least one original bulletin article per month.
· Teaching must continue both privately and publicly after a lost soul is baptized. (Matthew 28:19-20)
· Visiting members of the congregation, especially the sick and shut ins.
· Representing the church in the community.
· Maintaining regular office hours.
Essential skills and qualifications:
· Graduate of a brotherhood preaching school or college/university, (bachelor’s degree required).
· Strong Biblical knowledge and understanding.
· Excellent preaching and teaching skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work effectively with church leaders and members.
· Commitment to personal spiritual growth and development.
· Ability to work independently and with a group.
About the congregation:
· There are currently 3 elders and 3 deacons.
· Average weekly Sunday morning attendance is 70.
· The congregation has been worshiping in its current location since 1966.
Benefits:
· Salary commensurate with experience
· Two weeks’ paid vacation
· Paid holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Friday after, Christmas eve and Christmas day. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, another day off during the week may be taken.
