Youth and Family Minister

Lakeview Youth and Family Minister, Tacoma, Washington

To inspire, encourage, educate and promote the youth and family at Lakeview while working in tandem with parents and church leadership. This includes creating an atmosphere where youth receive encouragement for their individual walks with Christ. It is the goal of the Lakeview Youth and Family Ministry to prepare young people for a life of service in the Kingdom of God; arming them with spiritual strength and a servant heart that will lead to a lifelong devotion to God.

The Youth and Family Minister is expected to model a servant heart in his words and deeds; to promote frequent interaction within the body, both inside and outside of the church building; to raise the bar of expectations for our young people that they may reach new heights in their faith.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERAL
• Faithfully attend all Bible classes, worship services and other events of church, setting an example for the youth as well as the entire congregation.
• Participate in worship services, including pulpit preaching as needed.
• Seek continued development through conferences, continuing education and other growth opportunities.
• Assist in the day-to-day activities, operations and requirements in the church.
• Visit members as needed who are sick or require assistance.

YOUTH AND FAMILY MINISTRY
• Provide oversight of the entire youth and family program; including planning, communications, teaching, training and counseling our youth.
• Ensure youth and family ministry maintains a balanced program of spiritual, physical, and social growth.
• Be acquainted and involved with the personal lives of all youth and families. Being aware of current youth development and culture.
• Foster open communication with parents using all available methods to ensure clear information flow.
• Ensure training and regular involvement of youth in church ministry. Encourage the youth to integrate with the entire congregation.
• Enlist parents and other qualified adults to be regularly involved with youth and family ministry.
• Support and be active with Delano Bay Christian Camp. Provide information, material, and encouragement to families about and involvement with Delano.
• Involve families as part of youth and family activities.
• Support/organize and encourage youth and families in LTC and VBS.
• Maintain care of facilities and equipment.

ACCOUNTABILITY
• Attend elder/ministry meetings
• Attend regular meetings with deacon and/or elders for prayer and planning.
• Review youth and family program and job performance with youth and family elder and deacon quarterly.
• Collaborate with all other church staff.
